Oh, the futility of flight.

Why me?
Why now?
I yell with a frown
And sit on a ledge
With a million feet down
Waiting, just waiting
For my time to come
For ten seconds of flight
Before I hit the ground

Is it worth it? you ask
The inevitable crash
Leave this place now!
And never come back
Your bones will smash
And your body will crash
Your guts will have splattered
Your life, not have mattered!

To fall from that height
The blood on the ground
Will make quite a sight
The rocks at the bottom
Will mark how you’ve fallen
Hell is not solemn!

I gaze into the distance
With a look in my eye
And I say with a sigh
Someday, my friend
You’ll look at this moment
And you’ll start to cry

You’ll wish you had taken the leap
And followed your dreams
You will look all around
At your life on the ground
And you’ll start to wish
That your life was more
Then sitting around eating fish

You see, my friend
The moment is perfect
Ripe for the plucking
You can forge your own tract
Instead of just running
Down the beaten path
And forming a pact
With the masses of sheep
That lay by your feet

And when that moment comes
You’ll stay where you are
You’ll forget where you’re from
And all around
Are piles of things
And you’ll realize
That you wish you could sing
Instead of just cry
Because life is worth more
Then just piles of bling

And you’ll see with a sigh
That you want something more
You wish you could fly

And that’s where I am
And though when I leap
I may fall a great distance
Because of my friends
I will land on my feet

And angels will sing
I’ll continue to fling
My self from the ledge
And over the edge
Into the abyss
And out of my head
Away from your things
And piles of bling

Because I have learnt
Through trials and hurt
That there is a chance
Just a small chance.
That after one fling

I will grow wings.

And while you lie on the ground
And continue to cry
I soar far above
Learning to fly.
